Automotive supplier wins the contract for a successor module for a truly global engine

The successful partnership between Daimler Trucks and Hengst is set to continue in another project: The commercial vehicle manufacturer has commissioned the automotive supplier with the delivery of a successor for the oil cooler module provided by Hengst for the HDEP (heavy duty engine platform) engine. The series production of the successor module for this generation of engines in use across the world will take place at the Nordwalde site in the Steinfurt district of Germany. Daimler Trucks is the largest truly global commercial vehicle manufacturer. The portfolio including the Mercedes-Benz (Europe, South America), Freightliner (United States), Western Star (United States), Thomas Built Buses (United States), Fuso (Japan) and Bharat Benz (India) brands is truly global.

The combination of development expertise and in-house production at the highest technological level has been the decisive factor in favor of Hengst. This is underlined by the fact that essential components, such as aluminum die-cast castings, parts made using the plastic injection molding technique and integrated oil filter elements, are produced completely in-house by Hengst.

Another persuasive argument in favor of Hengst Automotive is its global orientation: For instance, the Daimler subsidiary Detroit Diesel is supplied directly from the Hengst site in Camden (USA). "The order demonstrates once again that our global presence is essential and results in sustainable benefits for our clients. At the same time it will serve to ensure that our German production sites will be working at full capacity," says CEO Jens Röttgering.
