Longer service life and lower energy consumption thanks to pleated filter mediaPleated filter media allow a significantly larger amount of filter material to be installed in a single element. The resulting increase in filter area extends the filter’s service life. At the same time, the larger surface area reduces flow resistance, which also leads to a lower pressure drop and a slower rise in differential pressure, thereby reducing the energy consumption of the entire system. This energy savings requires a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) that controls the fan speed according to demand. Additionally, pleated bag filters utilize efficient surface filtration. The improved cleanability increases dust discharge and prevents rapid media loading, resulting in a consistently stable, lower differential pressure and further extending service life.

Surface filtration uses synthetic, pleated spunbond media. These media have a particularly dense, uniform surface on which particles primarily accumulate rather than penetrating deep into the material. In contrast, conventional depth filters trap particles inside the filter material, which makes cleaning more difficult and increases the differential pressure.
The closed surface of pleated media enables highly efficient cleaning: dust deposits can be easily dislodged by pulsation, keeping the differential pressure consistently low and reducing energy consumption. At the same time, the air permeability of the filter medium is permanently maintained, allowing for higher specific air flow rates (air-to-cloth ratio). This makes surface filtration in pleated bag filters a high-performance and cost-effective alternative to conventional depth filters—especially in applications that require high filtration efficiency and long service life.
The use of pleated filter media significantly reduces the filter length, as a larger filter area can be accommodated within a smaller installation space. The shorter filter increases the distance between the filter bottom and the hopper in the collection area. A greater distance improves the separation conditions for heavy dust particles: They are separated from the airflow earlier and do not reach the filter surface. Instead, the particles accumulate at the bottom of the housing. This reduction in CAN velocity allows a greater quantity of particles to be collected at the bottom of the bag filter.Since coarse particles no longer strike the filter directly, the mechanical stress on the filter media is noticeably reduced. Thanks to the lower abrasion, filtration performance is reliably maintained. As a result, stringent emission limits can be met more reliably.In addition to reduced abrasion, the significantly higher filtration efficiency of pleated media also contributes substantially to minimizing emissions. Thanks to the larger filter area and highly effective surface filtration, even the finest particles are reliably filtered at the media surface. The improved cleanability also prevents rapid deep-layer fouling, keeping the differential pressure stable and low and ensuring that filtration efficiency remains consistently high throughout the entire service life. This results in consistently efficient particle retention and enables reliable compliance with even the most stringent emission limits.
