What is a machine extraction system?

A machine extraction system is a filter system that is installed directly on production machines. It removes oil and emulsion mist, dust or smoke directly at the source, thus ensuring clean air, safe workplaces and reduced wear.

What dangers arise without extraction?

Without extraction, pollutants are released unhindered into the room air or the environment. This can lead to respiratory problems for employees, contaminate machines and increase the risk of fire or slipping in production. With certain dusts or aerosols, there is also a risk of explosion if they accumulate in the air. Legally compliant operation can often not be guaranteed without extraction.

What is the difference between machine and central extraction?

A machine extraction system is used directly on a single machine and works locally. A central extraction system, on the other hand, covers several machines simultaneously and usually extracts the exhaust air via a shared pipe system. Which solution is more suitable depends on the production environment and the number of machines.

What space requirements does a machine extraction system have?

The space requirements are low, as many systems are compact and can be installed directly on or next to the machine. For central solutions, additional space is required for the pipe system and the filter unit.

Does a machine extraction system work with CNC machines?

Yes, especially CNC machines with cooling lubricants produce oil and emulsion mist that must be reliably captured. Hengst offers specially adapted solutions for this, which also work reliably in continuous operation.

Machine extraction with mechanical vs. electrostatic filtration?

  • Mechanical filtration systems use multi-stage filters and are particularly robust and easy to maintain.
  • Electrostatic separators work with electric fields and achieve very high filtration efficiencies, even with the finest aerosols. They are particularly suitable for liquid aerosols such as pure oils.

Which variant makes sense depends on the process and the pollutants produced.

What happens to the extracted substances?

The captured particles are filtrated in the filter systems. Liquids such as oil or emulsions can be collected and partially recycled. Dust and solids are collected in filter media or collection containers.

How often do filters in a machine extraction system need to be changed?

What health and safety requirements apply?

In Germany, the requirements of the DGUV, the Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS) and industry-specific guidelines such as VDI 2262 apply. These specify limit values for air pollutants and prescribe the use of suitable extraction and filter systems. The Federal Immission Control Act and the corresponding administrative regulation "TA-Luft" apply to air that is discharged to the outside
