Cement production generates large amounts of dust, which can overload filter systems if they are not designed for such a high dust load. This can reduce efficiency and increase emissions - as was the case with our customer in Portugal.

Replacement of conventional bag filters with pleated bag filters
The filter system has been upgraded with 240 Top Loader pleated bag filters, each equipped with 6m² of 100% synthetic media with an ePTFE membrane.
Reduction of emissions and increase in filter service life
Together with the customer, we installed the new pleated bag filters and compared the performance of the system over time.

Hengst filters ensure a gain in productivity, a reduction in emissions and a longer filter service life
By converting to pleated bag filters with 100% synthetic media with an ePTFE membrane, the filtration area has been maximized and increased by 600%. This leads to productivity increases and significant emission reductions.
10% increase in productivity
The output of the cement mill increased from 27 t/h to 30 t/h. This corresponds to a 10% increase in productivity.
95% reduction in emissions
The emission value was reduced from 22 mg/Nm³/h to 1 mg/Nm³/h, which corresponds to a 95% reduction in emissions.
Longer filter life and efficient filter cleaning
The filter design eliminated the problem of the high pressure drop from 6 to 3 bar. The ePTFE membrane provides efficient dust cleaning, which means less air is required for cleaning and ultimately less energy is consumed.
