A leading beverage manufacturer in Turkey operates a large bottling plant for non-alcoholic soft drinks with high demands on quality, efficiency and process reliability. A central challenge in production was to ensure filter integrity in the pre-filtration process, as short filter change intervals and damaged bag filters impaired process stability. The aim was to sustainably improve the process integrity and reliability of the filtration and at the same time use resources efficiently.

Situation: Integrity problems with bag filters
In the Turkish bottling plant of a global soft drinks manufacturer, classic bag filters are used to filter the water used. Due to the high load, the bag filters ruptured during the process and contaminated the bottling process. In addition, the filters were changed at least once a week. The result:

- High maintenance costs, downtime
Solution: Pleated bag filter L-PP-PB-A-Bag
The manufacturer used the pleated bag filter L-PP-PB-A-Bag from Hengst at the Turkish plant. With the pleated filter medium, the L-PP-PB-A-Bag offers significantly higher stability than a simple filter bag. This ensures process integrity even with a high volume flow. Another benefit of the pleat technology is a low differential pressure. This leads to a significantly longer service life.
The filters are designed in such a way that a retrofit with the existing housing is directly possible and no adjustments to the equipment were necessary.
Results: Optimized filtration in beverage production
The case study shows how modern filtration in beverage production significantly improves process reliability and efficiency. The use of stably designed pleated bag filters ensures reliable process integrity in beverage filtration, as damage during operation is avoided. At the same time, the service life of the filters has been extended to at least eight weeks - an important contribution to optimizing filtration in soft drinks production. As the existing equipment could continue to be used, no additional commissioning costs were incurred, while the efficiency of beverage filtration was sustainably increased.
