Fuel Filtration

In view of global climate targets, the defossilization of drive systemsrequires innovative filtration solutions that ensure the safe use of regenerative and alternative fuels. We offer technologically leading systems that reliably protect sensitive engine components from wear and corrosion in the changing fuel market.

Fuel Filtration in times of transformation - Maximum engine performance for the drives of tomorrow

The future of mobility is diverse: from highly efficient diesel drives to regenerative fuels and hydrogen engines. The global climate protection agreement in Paris and the European Green Deal show the way forward: The transport sector must be climate-neutral by 2050. For commercial vehicles and the off-highway and stationary sectors, this means a far-reaching defossilization of drive systems. While the combustion engine will remain the dominant technology in these segments for many years to come, the fuel market is undergoing fundamental change.

Benefits

  • Maximum wear resistance: Our high-end media achieve efficiencies of 99.99 % (Beta 10,000) to protect state-of-the-art common rail systems from even the smallest abrasive particles from 4 µm.
  • Optimum service life: Thanks to innovative filter media, we offer up to three times the dust holding capacity (approx. 180 g/dm³) of the competition, enabling identical or longer service intervals despite critical fuel qualities.
  • Long-term operational reliability: Highly efficient Water separator over the entire service life prevents corrosion and the formation of diesel pest.
  • Sustainability and waste reduction: With the Blue.on [Link https://www.hengst.com/de/produkte/produktgruppen/43-kraftstofffiltration/1383-nachhaltiges-filtrationskonzept-blueon] concept, you reduce the amount of waste generated during maintenance by 90 % and the component weight by 25 %.

Challenge: Alternative fuels and material integrity

The use of biofuels (such as FAME or HVO), synthetic e-fuels and hydrogen is the key to reducing emissions, but presents filtration technology with completely new physical and chemical hurdles. Biofuels (biodiesel) in particular have a high ageing potential:

  • Acid formation: Aging produces aggressive acids that can attack conventional filter media, housing and gaskets.
  • Water absorption & diesel pest: A higher water absorption capacity favors microbial growth (fungi and bacteria) and leads to corrosion in the injection system.
  • Particle ingress & flocculation: Paraffinic fuels such as HVO can flocculate at low temperatures, while contaminants from the global logistics chain (refineries, pipelines) endanger highly sensitive common rail systems.

Our answer: Technological safety through expertise At Hengst, we no longer just develop filtration solutions for standardized diesel, but for the global drive mix of the future. Using state-of-the-art testing methods in our Tech Center Filtration, we simulate artificial fuel aging far beyond industry standards to ensure the durability of our materials worldwide.

Tailor-made robustness for every challenge

Hengst Filtration not only offers standard products, but solutions that are precisely tailored to the extreme requirements of each industry. We understand that failure during harvest time or on the high seas is not an option.

On-highway: efficiency on the long haul

In long-distance transport, maximum mileage and minimum total cost of ownership (TCO) count. Modern common-rail systems in heavy trucks are optimized to the technical load limits and are highly sensitive to particles.

Our filters guarantee a first-class filtration effect over extremely long replacement intervals. This protects the injection system from wear, maintains the high engine efficiency and ensures the constant availability of your fleet.
